Our client is an independent housing association providing excellent housing management services to over 5,200 tenants and 260 leaseholders in Gloucester.

They are looking for an Independent Living Officer to work within their Independent Living Service who will be responsible for the delivery of an efficient and effective housing management service. You will be working in a diverse sheltered housing scheme with a responsibility of cover. You will ensure that tenants in sheltered housing have the appropriate housing related advice and guidance to live safely, independently and maintain their tenancy.

You will have an understanding of adult safeguarding along with knowledge of housing legislation around tenancy and income recovery. You will also have an ability to give accurate and up to date advice, information and support on a broad range of topics including housing and ASB legislation, welfare benefit legislation and advice.

You will be able to motivate, encourage and support managers and colleagues through involvement and participation in decision making, listening and taking account of diverse views, praise achievements and to celebrate success, creating a climate of trust and collaboration across the organization.

You will take responsibility for your own performance and ongoing development, sharing expertise and supporting the development of others as well as taking ownership of problems and works positively with others to resolve them, ensuring that all the organisational targets and objectives are met.

You must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills along with a strong customer focus and an ability to understand the needs and perceptions of clients, handling difficult situations sensitively together with the ability to understand the needs of different client groups and individuals, ensuring equitable and appropriate treatment for all. You will also need to have strong IT skills with experience of data collection.

A clean UK driving licence is required with access to a car and this role is subject to DBS check.
