South Norfolk Council has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Policy Officer to join the team based at multiple sites in the South Norfolk and Norwich area.  You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and you will receive £34,788 – £39,970 per annum (Starting salary will be influenced by membership of the RTPI). You will be working as a planning policy officer across a wide and varied geography helping plan for the growth of Greater Norwich. What you could be part of… You will be part of a planning policy team which serves two Councils: Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council. You will also contribute to the work of the Greater Norwich Local Plan team which is based at Norfolk County Council offices. This work is considered to be an exemplar of partnership working. Both teams offer an opportunity to be involved with the most significant growth agenda Greater Norwich has ever experienced and the delivery of new homes and jobs in an amazing part of the country. Key responsibilities of our Planning Policy Officer: - Research and prepare policy documents, committee reports, proofs of evidence and background evidence studies to support the Local Plan  - Liaise and negotiate with developers, site promoters, applicants and interest groups to resolve issues related to potential developments - Ensure effective service/corporate project co-ordination, project delivery and communication - Prepare written reports and appeal statements and present information and advice to elected members, agents, landowners, applicants and the general public in writing, face to face and by telephone What we’re looking for in our Planning Policy Officer: A degree or diploma in Town Planning or another relevant subject with at least one year’s post-qualification experience. It is desirable for you to be eligible for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RPTI). You will need a thorough knowledge of planning legislation and be able to demonstrate the ability to prepare reports on complex issues. You must be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines demonstrating strong organisational and prioritisation techniques.
