The St Marylebone CE School is seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Lead Learning Support Assistant to work alongside the SENCo and Director of SEN.

This is a key role which combines day to day in-class support work with additional responsibilities in the SEN team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working closely with our Head of SEN, SENCo and other experienced teaching professionals providing support and guidance, your role will be to:

  • provide proactive in-class support, working in collaboration with teaching staff to implement strategies aimed at enhancing access to the curriculum for SEN students
  • support the SENCo in the planning, implementation and administration of SEN provision
  • assist teachers in planning lessons and resources
  • support teachers in monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupil achievement, progress and development
  • support the Director of SEN in co-ordinating the team of Learning Support Assistants (including contributing to the induction programme for newly appointed LSAs)
  • share skills with less experienced colleagues, modelling good practice
  • disseminate information to LSAs and ensure that they are deployed effectively.

PERSON SPECIFICATION - WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • A proven track record of success at contributing to the learning and development of secondary-school pupils.
  • Primary School experience is also desirable.
  • Someone proactive who can lead sessions and suggest appropriate strategies for staff to use in lessons.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, as well as being able to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
  • Genuine and demonstrable interest in working with young people and education.
  • Commitment to achievement for all, regardless of background or ability.
  • Good reading, writing, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm, initiative, resilience and pro-activity.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable (e.g. HLTA status, or be working towards this, which we will support).

FURTHER INFORMATION

  • Contract: permanent contract, full or part-time applications considered.
  • Working hours: 36 hours per week during term-time (daily hours: 8:15am - 4:15pm with a lunch break).
  • Other benefits: Local Government Pension Scheme, Employee Assistance Programme to support your health and wellbeing.
  • Salary:, £22,800 - £23,628 (FTE) which equates to £19,186.20 - £19,882.96 for working term-time only. This is paid evenly each month over the whole year, including school holidays.
