The Neurology Department of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals is excited to advertise a 12 month fixed term locum post for a Neurology registrar to work alongside the neurology training registrars within a tertiary referral centre based at Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath and Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. Although a non training post, the successful applicant will have all same clinical responsibilities and almost all the training opportunities of a neurology trainee. As such we see this as an excellent opportunity for an appropriately qualified medical trainee to undertake a year of neurology SpR work prior to applying for higher training. The work varies between care of inpatients on a dedicated neurology ward to outpatient clinics encompassing general and subspecialty neurology. There are ample opportunities for audit and quality improvement. The post will commence in August allowing candidates who are completing their CT2 year in medicine to apply. Applicants wishing to work part time would be considered for the post.

General information for applicants

Successful candidates will join the first pay step within their salary band (unless otherwise stated). All our colleagues receive an annual appraisal. For colleagues appointed after 1 April 2019, this guides their progression through the salary steps.

As part of our commitment to a safe working environment, we undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check on all new employees. We make offers in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.

Applications for Tier 2 sponsorship are welcome. These will be considered alongside all other applications. Under the Residence Labour Market Test, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU\/EEA candidate is available.
