Where your contract management expertise takes flight

About us
The work of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) makes a vital difference to hundreds of people every single day. We are the largest operator of aviation in Government outside of the Ministry of Defence and spend over £4.5m every week on helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft to save lives and protect the maritime environment.

Our vision is to be the best maritime safety organisation in the world – and we believe that comes from taking a fresh look at our organisation. We’re creating a cohort of new, senior managers from diverse backgrounds to challenge our culture, inspire our people and drive us forward. Together we’ll build a modern, agile, faster-paced organisation.

The opportunity
Put your contract management expertise where it matters. With responsibility for 12 people and an annual budget of around £220m, you’ll oversee the delivery of search and rescue helicopter services, aerial surveillance and counter-pollution spray services. These are commercially sourced solutions that require strong business oversight and rigorous contract management. You will also play a key role in the development of the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC), driving value for money, deploying innovative technological solutions (including the use of drones), and coordinating with different rescue services. Working beyond traditional departmental barriers will be critical.

The person
Your experience in managing commercial contracts will be the key to success in this role. You’ll have a substantial track-record in negotiating complex contracts, including partnering with other departments and organisations to achieve efficiencies. Experience of leading and managing multidisciplinary teams is essential. A skilled negotiator, you’ll be persuasive, influential and highly professional.
