The work of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) makes a vital difference to hundreds of people every single day. Our UK Ship Register (UKSR) directorate works alongside the MCA’s regulatory function to promote the UK flag worldwide and attract high-quality shippers to the UK register.

The opportunity
Focused on enhancing and developing our commercially oriented and customer-focused delivery model, you will actively pursue new market share in ship registrations to build sustainable growth in business. This means transforming processes and people, as well as infrastructure, to meet ambitious UKSR business plan targets and deliver on wider MCA business strategies. It’s work that matters. Representing UKSR at local, national and international events, you will build productive relationships in government, the maritime industries and the international shipping community.

The person
An entrepreneurial, dynamic and highly experienced leader, you’ll be ready for the challenge of directing diverse functions in a fast-moving commercial environment. With a track-record in front-facing customer and client relations, you’ll also have expertise in managing complex organisational change. Your exceptional interpersonal skills and capabilities in stakeholder engagement mean you are confident working with senior civil servants, government ministers and representatives of overseas states. Some national and international travel will be required.
