Play Coordinator  Pact (Prison Advice & Care Trust) is a National charity which support people affected by imprisonment. They work in prisons and communities across England and Wales to provide practical support to prisoners' children and families, and to prisoners themselves.  Position: Play Coordinator  Location: Wales & South West  Job type: Part Time, Permanent  Hours: 15 hours per week (including weekend work)  Salary: £8,000 (FTE £20,000)  Closing date: 02 June 2019  Interviews commencing week beginning: 13 June 2019  About the role:  As a Play Coordinator you will be responsible for training and supporting our play workers and play volunteers. You will ensure prisoners, their children, carers and other relatives have access to appropriate engaging play activities and learning opportunities, to better enable them to maintain or enhance positive relationships.  You will work closely with Pact and prison staff to plan, resource and manage visits relating to children, such as family days, child-centred visits and specialist support visits such as Social Services parenting assessments and special needs sessions.  As play coordinator you will also be responsible for developing and implementing tools to quality assurance the children’s service provision across the region, with an aim of ensuring that consistently high-quality play services are being provided to our families.  The role will work across the Wales & South West region, including HMP Cardiff, Swansea, Usk, Prescoed, Bristol, Berwyn, Erlestoke, Eastwood Park and Leyhill. The post holder will be based in the prison closest to their home.  About you:  To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience of working directly with children, young people and their families using an appropriate range of techniques. You will have the ability to relate with warmth and sensitively to people from a diverse range of backgrounds, including children, prisoners, ex-prisoners, volunteers, prison officers, colleagues, and others.  You will also have a knowledge of safeguarding / child protection practice alongside a knowledge of data protection and of carrying out risk assessments in a childcare setting.  You will have Good experience and skills of planning creative, relevant play activities for children. You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate empathetic to the needs of prisoners’ families.  You will also have a relevant degree or professional qualification in play, child development or equivalent, and / or relevant work experience.  What Pact Offer:  Pact offers a wide range of benefits including free information, advice and counselling service, childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme plus many more.
