Part Time (18.5 hrs - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday am)

West Mercia Youth Offending Service operates across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Worcestershire, covering a youth population of approximately 112,800 (10 to 17 year olds). The service is hosted by the Office of the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner on behalf of the four local authorities and is currently the only youth justice service in such a hosting arrangement nationally. Services are delivered from multi-disciplinary teams aligned to the four local authority areas.
An opportunity has arisen for a Youth Justice Officer for our team based in Telford. The post is responsible for the management of a caseload and designing and directly delivering programmes of intervention to prevent offending by children and young people. This will include direct work with families, victims of youth crime and the co-ordination of multi-agency input to programme delivery.
The successful candidate will hold a professional qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Education, Probation or Health OR a degree or level 6 qualification in Youth Justice, Law, Criminology, Sociology, Psychology, Social Policy or Health-related and at least 2 years experience of work with children, young people and families OR a Youth Justice Qualification at Foundation Degree level or above and at least 2 years experience in a Youth Justice Team with case management responsibility
They must also have working knowledge of the legal, policy and practice context for Youth Justice Provision.
