£31,359 per annum

We're looking for someone to join our Planning Policy and Decisions Team (PPDT) as Planning Technical Executive. As the Local Planning Authority for its area the Development Corporation is responsible for the determination of planning applications and the management of appeals and planning enforcement. It has also prepared a Local Plan, together with a collection of other supporting documentation and processes (including the Community Infrastructure Levy) as a key part of its strategy to promote and deliver regeneration.

The Role

Reporting to the Planning Policy and Decisions Technical Manager you will provide high level technical support to the Planning Policy and Decisions team. The Planning Technical Executive will carry out all technical procedures relating to the receipt, validation and processing to completion of planning and other related applications (including Pre-Applications and Enforcement Cases) within statutory time limits.

You will also assist in the production and analysis of management Information, monitoring work levels, and maintaining statutory and other registers. You will be proactive in identifying improvements to systems and other departmental processes, assist in the collection and collation of information for the reporting of statistical returns and other performance indicators. You will also ensure the correct collection of fees / income and the timely processing and raising of invoices.

In addition to carrying out general administration such as photocopying, filing, scanning you will act as a point of contact for members of the public and other internal / external stakeholders, responding to information and data requests, including researching LLDC records and other information sources, as necessary to provide accurate information relating to development management and policy matters.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have strong experience of working in a technical planning support role and have experience of records management (paper and electronic) and clerical/administrative procedures, ideally with some experience of planning application system software. You will also have excellent knowledge of Microsoft / Adobe packages and the ability to adapt to use new software packages.

To succeed you will have an excellent track record of achievement working in public services and well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. You will be a self-motivated, team player who works with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You should also have good numeracy skills with the ability to carry out calculations.
