Job Details

Providing local stakeholders with insight into the application of Macquarie’s Operational Risk Management Framework, you will also develop best practice for the delivery of operational risk management responsibilities within the entities, drafting policy and process to address jurisdictional and regulatory requirements, where required.

The role will encompass the co-ordination of risk and control self-assessments, working with businesses and support functions, to ensure that these reflect the risk profile of business within the entities and are current and comprehensive.

You will analyse and follow up on existing and emerging operational issues, including targeted projects or reviews and take responsibility for assessing operational risk capital requirements in conjunction with business, legal, compliance and risk management experts. You will also get the opportunity to respond to requests from various stakeholders including regulators, auditors and Macquarie senior management, gaining excellent exposure to the business.

You bring with you strong experience in Risk Management, Internal or External Audit gained ideally within an international financial institution or professional services firm and a tertiary degree in Finance or related area. Relevant postgraduate degrees or professional qualifications (CA, CPA) would be desirable.

You will be an analytical and lateral thinker with problem solving, consulting and project management skills and an ability to grasp abstract concepts and complex situations. In addition, you will feel comfortable and competent interpreting and balancing commercial issues within the risk framework whilst being able to demonstrate working knowledge of the regulatory environment in which Macquarie operates in. The role will allow you to display your strong communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with Senior Management and gain buy-in, trust and understanding in your stakeholders.

Working at Macquarie

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.  In June 2014, we launched a mentoring programme for females, with the following two objectives:

  • Address female retention rates at Senior Manager level and improve our diverse pipeline of talent;
  • Engage female Senior Managers by providing tools and support around their personal development;

The programme pairs up Senior Managers with Directors, who meet on a monthly basis, and are supported by active group sessions (bi-monthly) with an external facilitator.

We select some of the brightest minds to help us in solving complex challenges for our clients.  We recognise that recruiting talent from varied backgrounds is essential to improving our understanding of the marketplace, and enhancing creativity and problem-solving capabilities in our businesses.

Because of this, our commitment to you is to create a diverse and inclusive workplace regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity or cultural background.

We make this commitment not only because it is the right thing to do but it opens up a world of opportunity, securing the future of our people, our success and our business
