We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Digital Services Team. You will be responsible for delivering smart and efficient ways for our users to work as part of the Project Delivery function. This will include cleaning up sizeable amounts of data, building usable, easy-to-use data to whomever may require it. 

This role will typically suit an analytical individual that is experienced in assessing and converting large amounts of unstructured data sets. 

You will be actively involved with the Development Manager and Data Architects and have the chance to create positive working relationships across the Department for Transport. 

Role Responsibilities include but are not limited to; 

• Implementing data flows to connect operational systems. 
• Build accessible data for analysis. 
• Write ETL scripts and code to make sure the ETL process performs optimally. 
• Re-engineer manual data flows to enable scaling and repeatable use.

About You 

The ideal person will hold a relevant academic background in computer science/mathematics/physics or related field. You will hold excellent knowledge of data landscapes, products & services and experience of working in a large-scale data development/production environment. This background will come with a demonstrable understanding of end-to-end data delivery techniques in Business Analysis, Data Modelling, ETL techniques, Data Exploitation, Quality Assurance and MI/BI solutions. You will have first class verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with Data Architects and other experienced professionals. Suitable individuals will have exceptional interpersonal skills, allowing you to engage effectively and develop strong, lasting working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Sift/interview dates and location

Interviews/assessments are likely to be held week commencing 15th July.
