JOB DESCRIPTION FOR: COOK / HOUSEKEEPER
LOCATION: OSWESTRY
JOB TITLE: COOK / HOUSEKEEPER
SALARY: £10,630 - £13,275 per annum
HOURS: PART TIME 22.5 hours per week (to be worked flexibly on a pre-planned rota, including weekends)
THE COMPANY: Our client is a bright, homely, active and supportive place situated in Morda, Oswestry. They are a charity that cares for children with serious conditions, who aren’t expected to live longer than early adulthood. Our client helps them enjoy the best possible quality of life and be as comfortable, happy and fulfilled as they can while supporting their parents and families too, who often find it hard to cope. All of our client’s services are free, but to carry on funding them £6 million is raised every year - almost all of it through the local community.
THE ROLE: Our client is seeking a Cook/Housekeeper to join them at their site in Oswestry. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated and required to cook and occasionally assist with general housekeeping at the hospice including cleaning and laundry duties. The ideal candidate will have experience of cooking for a small to medium sized establishment and ideally hold a basic food hygiene certificate, however no formal qualifications are necessary.
The Cook/Housekeeper will provide a homely and welcoming environment throughout the building in which families feel welcome and comfortable. Working alongside Care Team Members in the delivery of care to families, the Cook/Housekeeper will provide a flexible service giving support, both in housekeeping and catering as necessary, providing a seamless service to the Hospice.
Key Responsibilities of the job role to include:-
* To provide wholesome, nourishing meals to the children, families and members of staff
* To ensure that the Hospice is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness
* To maintain quality laundry services
* To maintain the standards of hygiene appropriate to the standards set by the Environmental Health Officer (EHO) and other governing bodies
* To supervise guests, staff and volunteers when assisting in and out of the kitchen with particular reference to safety issues
* To report to the Hospitality Manager all breakdowns - electrical or mechanical
* To ensure, when possible, that vacated rooms are prepared for incoming families
* To ensure that you are familiar with all Policies and Procedures pertinent to your area of work and that you act accordingly
* To participate in all mandatory training relevant to your area of work
* To ensure that your Terms and Conditions of Employment are complied with
* To promote the philosophy of Hope House Children’s Hospices beyond the establishment
