Job Details
This is an opportunity to work in one of the world’s most beautiful libraries, within a truly exceptional community.
Bedales is an environment where questioning, divergent thinking and freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. Both our staff and students expect of each other the best kind of relationships – co-operative, authentic and trustful.
In order to succeed in this role, you will combine a warm and caring approach with high standards of professionalism. You will inspire young people with a love of reading. You will help them develop the information skills they need to be successful and safe in today’s world. You will help them realise our ideal of curious, independent learners, and will embody the same ideal yourself.
Working with one other librarian, you will share responsibility for all aspects of the running of the Senior School library. You will be responsible for managing and developing the collection, and for promoting the service, alongside all the routine day-to-day tasks. You will be creative, and seek fresh opportunities for the library to contribute to the goals of the wider organisation.
Within this role, there is also the potential to make a significant contribution to the ongoing development of the Bedales Archive. If this is one of your strengths, there would be scope for you to get involved.
The majority of the working hours are spent as the sole member of staff on duty in the library, with responsibility for ensuring appropriate standards of student behaviour.
Closing Date: 9:00am Thursday 20 June 2019
