What you'll be doing

As a telephone-based Mental Wellbeing Practitioner, one of your roles will be to conduct t comprehensive mental health assessments, make treatment recommendations and provide low level interventions for Bupa insurance members and Bupa Employee Assistance Programme clients. You will also be responsible for the online review and support of our computerized CBT programme.

What’s a typical day?

The role will involve working independently and as part of a clinical team whilst liaising daily with internal and external services/organisations. You will have continuous support from a Clinical Psychologist lead and regular in-house clinical supervision but you should be confident in your competencies and have experience working with a diverse range of patient groups.

  • Perform telephone-based clinically robust and comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment, formulation and treatment planning for clients and members who access the service
  • To perform all clinical roles and responsibilities in line with Bupa’s pillars of clinical governance
  • To participate in multi-disciplinary decision-making regarding clients or members with psychological and/or psychiatric needs
  • To have knowledge and awareness of current relevant legislation and own responsibilities for professional practice in relation to risk issues including the Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Children and to complete relevant mandatory training and updates

Who we’re looking for?

  • BSc Psychology/Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, minimum grade 2:1 plus paid or voluntary experience working in mental health settings
  • Experience of being Low Intensity Worker / Psychological Wellbeing practitioner or Primary Mental Health Worker or High Intensity Worker / CBT therapist
  • Post qualification experience in assessment and formulation in a rich and varied environment
  • Strong professional and personal drive
  • Ability to respond rapidly and decisively
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Working within level of competence and recognising when to escalate
  • IT proficient

  • Masters degree level qualification in Applied Psychology
  • Membership of BABCP/UKCP/BPS/HCPC or another recognised professional body
  • Proven post qualification experience
  • Safeguarding experience
  • Proven experience of customer service
  • Experience of working clinically over the telephone
  • Experience of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, specifically delivered online
