About Amey

The purpose of this role is to form and operate a PMO (Project Management Office) to drive delivery of the Programme of 24 Projects which form the Group HSEQ 2019-21 Strategy.


Core Responsibilities

Plan Resource

  • Assigns PM resource to in-flight and projects being launched as determined by need & risk
  • Coaches Project Leaders to be realistic in; identifying required resource and, managing that resource.

Time Management

  • Is able to coach Project Leaders in their management of time.
  • Uses standard tools to keep Project Milestone delivery on-plan
  • Escalates, where appropriate, Project Milestones which are at risk

Budget

  • Where budget is required provided coaching to Project Leaders in how to secure the required funds.
  • Provide fiscal oversight of those projects which have secured funding to ensure financial probity.

Monitor Progress

  • Ensure that Project Leaders provide performance against plan reports against the agreed schedule and using a Standard Template.
  • Provide insight into overall Programme Performance and individual Project Performance.

Manage Issues & Risk

  • Ensure that all projects create a realistic risk register and that mitigation, where required, is identified.
  • Identify cross-project risks and common or single points of failure.
  • Provide reports to give insight into the overall risk-profile of the Programme.

Quality & Governance

  • Coach Project Leaders to ensure that they adhere to Standard Tools and ways of working
  • Act as 1st point of escalation for Programme systems/tools issues
  • Be alert to the risk of Project scope-drift and alert the Programme Sponsor of any instances
  • Provide bi-monthly Governance Report

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree educated and has obtained an externally recognised PM qualification
  • Has experience of successfully delivered the PM role or, acted as Assistant PM
  • Technical knowledge, backed by some experience, in one or more of the following topics: Health & Safety, Environment & Sustainability and Quality & Assurance management systems.
