Job Details
Main Purpose
To provide business-focused, strategic legal advice and support to the Group with legal matters arising from inter alia; bids, operation of contracts, corporate matters and disputes and to assist the senior lawyers on large legal projects.
Responsibilities
Working independently (but within guidelines) to:-
* Provide strategic legal advice and support and contribute to the successful delivery of major projects for Amey.
* Deliver business-focused training on legal subjects.
* Advise on and implement policy development for legal and corporate Amey policies
* Provide legal bid support for non-PFI/PPP projects and negotiate and draft contract clauses.
* Defend or prosecute and manage disputes.
* Build and maintain productive and effective relationships with those people and functions listed below using high level communications and influencing skills
* Monitor and provide guidance on compliance with Group policies and legal requirements.
Works under supervision to:-
* Draft formal letters, contracts and assisting with drafting on bids
* Support senior lawyers on PFI/PPP projects and material disputes
* Attend meetings with internal and external clients
* Provide strategic legal advice to the Group.
Personal Profile
Qualifications
* Law degree or completion of conversion course following other degree
Skills
* IT literate (MS Office suite)
* Decision making skills and ability to provide strategic advice and support on key projects
Experience
* Solicitor in the UK or equivalent in a foreign jurisdiction with comparable legal system
* Legal experience at a city law firm or in a UK in-house legal department
Excellent technical legal knowledge in the relevant area of work, e.g. projects / commercial, corporate, finance, litigation and dispute management
