Role Overview

We're looking for a Commercial Trainee to join a dedicated Commercial Team within the Amey Utilities Division on one of their Key Accounts with their Client Severn Trent Water. Having won an extension in 2015 running through the remaining AMP period to March 2021, this is an excellent opportunity to be part of an ever-growing contract with one of our Key Partners.

You will be part of a collaborative team working to ensure the smooth flow of all Commercial aspects of the contract, working together daily ensuring all deadlines are met to achieve contractual KPIs.



What will this role involve?

  • Ensure compliance with the Amey systems, processes and procedures
  • Review and audit feedback from on-site crews prior to submission to Client following completion of activities
  • Review supply chain applications for individual work orders, tracking through from application to approval for payment
  • Provide commercial support as required / directed
  • Support the commercial team in ensuring cost capture processes are complied with
  • Engage with supply chain partners, operation teams and Client to ensure smooth flow of payment applications and regulatory information
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all contract stakeholders
  • Promote a collaborative team-working environment
  • Proactively instil commercial awareness throughout the team
  • Promote the Amey safety culture
  • Participate in regular monthly safety meetings
  • Assist in the commercial management of the Subcontract Accounts



What are we looking for?

  • Health and Safety awareness
  • Competent in computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel and Word
  • Preferred general SAP System knowledge and experience
  • Ability to time-manage, set priorities and work to strict deadlines in a deadline based environment
  • Strong communication skills, both through email and telephone calls
  • Methodical style of working
  • Strong desire to further Client relationships whilst ensuring that contractual entitlements are not compromised
  • Team player
  • Willingness to learn
  • Motivation and desire to succeed
  • Ability to work under pressure
