Job Title: Finance Assistant
Hours of Work: 8am – 4pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (3 days) – specific days can be negotiated
Salary: £11 per hour
Contract Type: Part Time, Temporary, 9 months (maternity cover)
Location: Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire
Gi Group are seeking a FINANCE OFFICER to join our client’s team based in Scunthorpe. Our client has been a leading corporation in their trade for 25 years, which continually focus on developing all business functions both commercially and industrially.
This opening will require the prosperous candidate to work closely with the finance team undertaking the day-to-day duties of a finance officer (see extensive duties below), concentrating on assisting with a smooth running finance department and cover the full purchase ledger function when required.
Specific duties include:
• Process post, including bar coding invoices and scanning ready for export into the OCR system.
• Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements.
• Cover of the full purchase ledger function when required (holidays, sickness etc).
• Regular bank reconciliations.
• Regular petty cash reconciliations.
• Adhoc accounting duties as and when required.
• Comply with all H&S rules, procedures and policies. Comply with all environmental requirements as stipulated in ISO 14001 and BRC procedures and guidelines on Health & Safety.
• Input of electronic purchase invoices onto FIS system.
• Input of manual purchase invoices (including intercompany).
• General ledger work including journals and GL account reconciliations.
• Perform other such duties of a similar nature as from time to time may be required including any other duty reasonable corresponding with the role.
The successful candidate will either hold a formal accounts qualification (i.e. AAT Level 2 or 3) OR experience to reflect accounts experience. Other requirements include:
• Good communication skills – written, verbal and spoken English levels
• A working knowledge of general ledger double entry (desirable)
• Previous experience of SAP (desirable)
• Minimum 3 GCSE’s or equivalent A-C, including literacy and numeracy
• Previous experience in a similar post
• AAT studies or qualified OR experience qualified
