The UK Hydrographic Office is a leading centre for hydrography, providing marine geospatial data to inform maritime decisions. We work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners to support maritime navigation, safety, security and marine development around the UK and worldwide.

Our Digital Chart Production team is one of several Production Teams within our Customer Division that is responsible for the maintenance and production of the UKHO’s extensive range of navigational and situational awareness products and services for the Royal Navy and our commercial customers.  As a Team Member, you will play a key role contributing to meeting UKHO key deliverables through the updating, compilation and preparation of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) for our Commercial and Defence customers.

This will include:

  • Updating databases from medium/complex sources
  • Maintaining Electronic Navigational Chart catalogues
  • Responding to customer queries
  • Validating S-57 data in the database

To be considered, you will need experience of working in an S-57 format and of using CARIS toolset with an understanding of the principles of product compilation to IHO standards and cartographic symbology and experience of interpreting marine geospatial data and using S-58 based validation software.

We offer maternity, adoption and/or shared parental leave of up to 26 weeks' full pay, followed by 13 weeks' statutory pay and a further 13 weeks' unpaid leave; plus paternity leave of two weeks' full pay, subject to certain qualifying criteria.
