St Mungo’s is a sector leader in tackling rough sleeping across London and the South East and our ambition is to, at a minimum, halve rough sleeping in the areas we work by 2021.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is a confident communicator, good at solving problems and has strong project management skills, to join our friendly and busy team. You will support the development of St Mungo’s portfolio of client-facing services.

About the team

The Business Development Team supports our operational leadership teams to retain existing front line services and develop new ones.  We do this through competitive tendering, the development of proposals and direct negotiations. Our Business Development Managers are actively involved in the development of pipelines to plan the retention of our current services and anticipate the development of new ones.

The Business Development Team sits within the wider Support Services Development Department, which also includes the Business Improvement Team and Strategic Marketing.  The teams work closely together to develop our client-facing services.

About the role

You will manage development projects from the identification of opportunities through to the submission of proposals that meet the requirements of our Commissioners or Funders, our Regulators as well as our own internal parameters. You will also support your colleagues to develop internal business cases, prepare presentations and reports, attending external meetings where appropriate.

Additionally, you will work closely with internal business partners and operational leadership teams, to co-develop pipelines of opportunities and partnerships with organisations that share our values.

About you

You will understand the development of client-facing services either through direct operational experience or through working in a business development/fundraising environment. You will also be proactive and adaptable with a problem solving outlook.

As well as being customer-focused, you will possess good all-round communication skills; including the ability to influence others at all levels verbally and in writing.  You will also genuinely value team work and supporting your colleagues and be naturally interested in understanding the work of your colleagues and other teams across the organisation.

In return, we offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme, staff discounts scheme and initiatives to help you maintain a healthy work/life balance. We are also committed to providing our staff with a wide range of learning and development opportunities in support of their personal and professional development.

*Please note in approximately 12 months our Head Office is likely to relocate to Stratford, London)

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) applicants, as they are under-represented within St Mungo’s at this level.

At St Mungo’s, equality, diversity and inclusion are central to the organisation's values and how we work. We are in the top 50 of Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index 2019, we are also proud to have been awarded Personnel Today’s 2018 Diversity and Inclusion (Public Sector) award and we are a Disability Confident Employer. To ensure that our workforce reflects the diversity of our clients as well as the communities that we live and work within, we encourage and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
