About Mencap

At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something really meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You`ll have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.

You will feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you will get back so much more. With us, it is never `just a job`. In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.

Who you will be supporting

We are looking to recruit committed and enthusiastic Support Workers to work in our two Supported Living Homes in Wandsworth. Six people (four women and two men) live in one home and two men live in the other. Successful candidates may be required to work at one or both services and suitability will be assessed at interview and service visit. The successful candidate will work closely with the residents to ensure they live as independently as possible and achieve their ambitions. The successful candidate will be expected to support the residents with meal planning, cooking, personal care and ensure they take their medication; they will work alongside the residents to ascertain their goals and support them to achieve their goals. The eight people who live at the properties have various support needs, some are quite independent and access the community independently and some require more support. Sleep in`s will be required for both services.

The role

You must be willing to work flexibly as and when required. You will work on a rota basis throughout the week and at weekends including Bank Holidays.

One of the most amazing things about being a Support Worker is the difference you can make and no two days are the same. As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
