This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our newly formed L&D team and work closely with the Head of Department to develop our commercial activity. Expand your experience of managing, promoting and selling venue hire space with our modern building on the edge of the City.

We are the Institution of Structural Engineers. The world’s largest membership body dedicated to the art and science of structural engineering. Our prestigious premises offer state of the art facilities, comprising of meeting room suites, a 100+ capacity auditorium, and a semi-private function area.

The Role

We need an experienced Sponsorship and Venue Sales Manager with demonstrable knowledge and understanding of commercial business management on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave.

You will manage and be responsible for all commercial sales and third-party venue hire. Our professional front of house team will support in this, and part of this role will include managing their venue sales activity.

Using previous experience of relationship-based sales and developing sponsorship packages, you will also sell sponsorship for all activities carried out by the Institution such as events and publications. Excellent interpersonal skills are a must with the ability to be persuasive and influential and to develop professional networks to promote our activities.

About You:

We are looking for candidates with experience of:

  • Venue sales and managing a venue with a capacity of 100 delegates per day
  • Promoting and selling venue hire space and drafting/reviewing terms of business
  • Managing corporate catering contracts
  • Supporting financial/commercial forecasting and managing budgets
  • Relationship-based sales and developing sponsorship packages
  • Pipeline creation and relationship building within sponsorship
  • Managing and analysing databases for marketing and sponsorship purposes
  • Developing new commercial opportunities would be highly advantageous
