Are you a strategic leader with experience of developing, implementing and leading a risk based corporate assurance strategy? 

The UK Atomic Energy Authority are seeking a job share Head of Assurance to provide technical knowledge, expertise and advice to the CEO, UKAEA Board and executive committee on assurance matters. 

Working with the current senior Head of Assurance partner, you will be responsible for leading the Assurance Strategy, operating model and plan that enables continual improvement, development of a proactive culture across UKAEA. 

You will be expected to provide visible leadership and governance to the organisation in assurance matters, embedding risk management as an integral part of business planning. Providing strategic advice on security and business continuity arrangements will also form part of the role, ensuring the provision of training / awareness to all levels of the business. You will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to integrate good governance practice and you must be confident in developing a proactive culture throughout the organisation. 

The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment and is also home to the UK`s MAST-U fusion energy experiment. UKAEA also works with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies currently in Remote Handling and Materials research.

Knowledge skills and experience

Essential
-Highly qualified safety, quality or risk management professional 
-Chartered membership of one or more relevant Professional Organisations e.g. chartered member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH). 
-Knowledge and experience of quality, security, occupational health & safety and environmental management and relevant areas of civil and criminal law 
-Ability to provide strong, visible leadership in QSHE / Risk Management Knowledge and experience of managing enterprise risk and audit 

Special requirements:
