Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real contribution to students' success at University?

We are looking for two enthusiastic Academic Skills Tutors to join our Library Academic Support Team, providing academic skills support to students at Leeds Beckett through our popular Skills for Learning service. The team supports the development of student academic communication, maths and IT skills, through developing a wide range of online resources, teaching in-curriculum sessions and open workshops, as well as providing one-to-one support both in person and online. These posts will specialise in the area of Academic Communication, including all aspects and types of academic writing, critical thinking and presentation skills. You will build strong partnerships with academic staff in the Schools to integrate academic skills into the curriculum and will design teaching and learning materials for both face-to-face teaching and online learning environments.


You should have excellent academic communication skills, and experience of teaching academic skills. You will also have experience of using learning technologies to support students in their academic skills development.

Post 1: full-time, permanent post.


Post 2: part-time (0.4 FTE), fixed-term post to cover a period of maternity leave. There is some flexibility in the days / hours that this post will work. We will establish a fixed working pattern with the postholder on appointment.
