The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), based in award winning offices in Taunton, Somerset, are looking for two Technical Product Managers to provide technical product support across our new marine geospatial information services. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting edge products that not only ensure safe navigation and global trade efficiency but also support other marine activities including economic development, environmental protection, resource exploration and utilisation, scientific research and security and defence.

As a Technical Product Manager, using your knowledge of digital product design, functionality and process, and your ability to quickly develop a strong technical knowledge base of our products and services you will provide technical support to users and provide tactical resolutions to problems. 

You will also identify and design improvements to UKHO Products, Services and processes, acting as the Product Owner within an Agile development team (when required), providing the voice of the customer and acting as senior user to accurately represent business process requirements.

Aside from playing a key role in the design, development and testing of products to ensure successful delivery, you will also be responsible for transferring knowledge through training and documentation to sales, distributors, as well as developers.

You will be able to effectively communicate technically complex information and concepts to a wide range of stakeholders, with a varied understanding. Through building positive working relationships, you will manage stakeholder expectations and be able to understand the impact of your decisions.  You will also be able to quickly develop a strong technical knowledge base of our products and services, which will enable you to provide specialised input into the customer division, as well as the wider team.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential to be successful for the post.  You will therefore be tested on this at interview.

You will also be asked to complete a presentation, as part of the interview process, which will assess the above profiles.
