This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join an innovative organisation, building and maintaining strong relationships with school partners.

City Year UK is a youth social action charity which challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time social action. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK.

Location: Manchester, with some travel to other locations (such as schools) and other City Year UK sites.

Salary: £22,300 - £25,500 per annum dependent on experience.

Duration: This role will initially be fixed term for 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

Hours: 35 per week

Benefits: Potential for flexible working from the beginning of employment. Up to 5% pension employer contribution, 28 days’ holiday per year plus one additional day per year after two years of employment, capped at a maximum of 31 days. Interest-free loan for season ticket or bicycle. 2 volunteer days per year.

The Role

The School Partnerships Officer will support the National Schools and Recruitment Manager with City Year’s national school partnerships; ensuring that we maintain strong relationships with all of our current schools whilst building effective new partnerships to meet our year on year growth targets.

This role will support with admin and keeping our CRM database (Salesforce) up to date, there will also be opportunities to engage with and meet Senior Leaderships Teams in schools as well as other key external stakeholders in order to strengthen brand awareness. A key part of this role will be project research to deepen our understanding of school needs across the regions.

This role will also occasionally support the Volunteer Recruitment team. This will include attending attraction events to engage with and excite young people about joining City Year, supporting with the recruitment processes and on boarding of new volunteers, as well as supporting the regional Recruitment Officers with assessment days and interviews.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Previous experience of working with senior stakeholders, ideally in an educational setting
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen to the customer and understand their needs
  • Strong and persuasive presentation skills
  • Evidence of a high level of organisation, with the ability to manage a busy workload
  • Experience working in a target driven environment
  • Positive, flexible approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to reach targets

 

Although not essential, an understanding of local authorities, as well as previous experience of using a CRM (ideally salesforce) would be highly beneficial for this role.
