The LGA is the national voice of local government. We work with councils to support, promote and improve local government.

The Workforce, Leadership and Productivity Directorate of the LGA provides support to local authorities across the country. The directorate is looking to employ a Programme Support Officer to work with our Children’s Services Improvement team.

The roles require individuals who can: work independently across multiple projects at any one time, updating an analyse spreadsheets, produce reports, chase external stakeholders for information, plan and prepare meetings and events, take minutes, raise orders and invoices, monitor budgets, routinely keep project information and records up to date, understand and follow corporate policies and processes.

Successful applicants will need to be: team players who are flexible and capable of working with minimal supervision; well organised with the ability to plan and deliver a varied workload; highly capable and well-motivated; excellent communicators. They will also need to have strong interpersonal skills and have excellent attention to detail.

The Children’s Improvement Programme delivers a range of children’s peer reviews in local authorities across the country; this position is fixed-term until 31 March 2020. The position may offer opportunities for contract extension and career progression.
