Unitemps have two vacancies for a Technical Assistant to work within Nursing and Midwifery division of Staffordshire University. The roles are temporary for 6 months with the potential to become permanent.
Role 1
Location: Stafford Campus, occasionally Stoke Campus
Hours: Full Time (Monday to Friday 08:45 – 17:00)
Role 2
Location: Shrewsbury Campus (Royal Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital
Hours: Part Time (Monday to Thursday 08:45 – 17:00)
Both roles are primarily working weekdays however, occasional support of University weekend / evening scheduled Open Days / Offer Holder events would also be expected.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Preparing and setting up / clearing down of specialist clinical equipment used for practical clinical-skills teaching delivery,
* Providing effective support of high-level clinical skills-delivery in support of the University’s Healthcare Professions programme.
* Work independently, as well as part of a wider team of both academic and technical staff, providing technical support to academic staff and students across a wide range of technologies and clinical-skills based practices within areas of Nursing and Midwifery.
* Use your own knowledge and experience as a healthcare professional in delivering superb student supervision and guidance.
* Operate and maintain both Low and Hi-Fidelity simulation-based equipment.
* Support staff and students in the use of various specialist clinical resources.
* Maintain appropriate levels of clinical consumables and lab resources to facilitate all programmed skills sessions.
Skills and Experience
Ideally this role would suit a Healthcare Professional (Nursing Associate / Healthcare Assistant / Assistant Practitioner), or support care worker with Nursing and / or Midwifery experience.
* Previous experience of providing support within a busy clinical environment, with an ability to deal with numerous and varied workload requirements, often to tight deadlines.
* Good organisational and planning skills.
* An awareness and understanding of safe working practices in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations.
* Experience of working with clinical equipment in a teaching environment would be an advantage.
* Self-start and can-do approach, a team player who is highly motivated with a positive and flexible attitude.
In-house training will be provided for the right candidate with regards to the use of Low and Hi-Fidelity simulation-based teaching resources, in-house systems of work and familiarisation of technical resources used
