An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated qualified social worker to work within the Community Mental Health Teams for Older People within Cardiff Adult social services.

We are committed to providing a robust, high quality and timely response and interventions.

You will be working as part of a team undertaking assessments and outcome focused support planning, working with people to promote and maximise independent living.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of adults and expect all staff to share this commitment.

We are looking to recruit a Grade 8 social worker to a permanent position within the Community Mental Health Team for Older People.

Candidates will preferably have good knowledge of the SSWBA and the requirements for social work practice working with adults.  AMHP qualification or willingness to undertake AMHP training is essential.

Applicants must have a social work degree or equivalent.

If you would like to discuss the above vacancy, further please contact Kate Llewellyn, Integrated Manager on Tel. 029 21826700.

This post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced checks.

Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for the Council. We aim to support children and vulnerable adults to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. Our services and schools are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable adults, and will take action to safeguard their well-being, and acknowledge that children and vulnerable adults have a right to protection. This is supported in the general ethos of the Council and all schools.

This post is part time and will work 30.00 hours per week.

We welcome applications in both English and Welsh. Applications received in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than English applications.

As a large public sector organisation, it is important to us that we support the economic wellbeing of our citizens and that our workforce better reflects the communities we serve.   Therefore, although not a requirement for application, we welcome and encourage applications from under represented individuals:

  • aged under 25
  • not in employment, education or training
  • from our local communities including in particular those from the Cardiff BAME community and LGBT+ Communities
  • able to communicate fluently in Welsh
