Information Officer  Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.  Position: Information Worker  Location: Belfast  Contract type: Part Time, Fixed Term Contract (9 months)  Hours: 28 per week  Salary: £14,185.60 to £14,903.20 actual per annum  Closing date: 22 August 2019  Interview date: TBC  About the role:  Do you have a pro-active nature and an ability to build successful relationships? You could quickly establish yourself as a key member of our team.  This is an exciting opportunity to really make a difference. As an Information Worker you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and making available a range of high-quality information and publicity materials to people in the local area. You will maintain an up to date source of books, videos, articles and press cuttings regarding dementia care and developments in research. Using this wealth of information, you will assist enquirers in assessing their needs, providing them with relevant information and signposting to appropriate services.  You will act as a representative of the Alzheimer’s Society externally, establishing and maintaining good relationships with local GP surgeries, libraries, hospitals, churches etc. You will raise awareness of dementia and Society’s services by organising promotional events, giving talks to community groups, liaising with the media and actively exploring new possibilities for awareness raising.  We are looking for someone who has attained NVQ level 2 or equivalent. You will also have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex issues to people of all backgrounds, levels of understanding.
