Teaching Personnel, the market leader of education recruitment in the UK, are currently working alongside a number of partner secondary schools situated within the Wigan LEA who are looking to recruit both full-time, part-time and ad hoc Cover Supervisors to join their support team from September 2019. The highlighted roles commence from September 2019 and is the perfect opportunity to gain invaluable experience before embarking upon a teacher training programme in the future.

Working within a range of secondary schools and Academies across Wigan.

Excellent opportunity for graduates considering a career within education to gain paid classroom experienceThe schools that Teaching Personnel support in Wigan range from faith schools, Academies, mainstream comprehensive and 14+ providers. Dependent upon your availability, you have the opportunity to secure a full-time or part-time role based within one partner school, or can choose the days that you work within a range of schools to gain a full insight into the area, National Curriculum and working within different environments. Full support will be provided and additional CPD training is available through Teaching Personnel.

Transport to Wigan is easily accessed from neighbouring areas - Warrington, Bolton and Salford. The A580 (East Lancashire Road) provides a direct route to Wigan from Greater Manchester and there are a number of train and bus stations in Wigan for non-drivers.

As a Cover Supervisor, responsibilities will include:

Providing classroom management of students in the absence of a teaching member of staff.
To liaise with appropriate Heads of Department on work to be set for classes and on any behavioural matters.
To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teachers' lesson plans.
Manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are completing work to ensure a constructive environment.
Deal with any immediate problems according to the school's policies and procedures.
Collect completed work after the lesson and pass to the appropriate member of staff.
Report, as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of pupils during the class and on any problems arising.
Registering attendance in accordance with school policy.
