Thanks to the ongoing success of the current service, we are looking to expand our team of dedicated support workers in Havant. We currently support 8 gentlemen and 6 ladies at our registered service, with ages ranging from early 20’s to mid-60’s and varying support needs–offering a real variety in personalities and experiences.

We are currently offering a number of full and part time contracts, as well as particular weekend contracts. Shift times vary between 07:00 until 21:00. Flexibility is important as all our shifts will be spread across the weekdays and alternate weekend working.

The people we support need you to be understanding, reliable and most importantly caring – one of Mencap’s key values. They also need you to support them in accessing new activities and new challenges within the community – the people you are supporting will be able to indicate where they want to go through various methods of communication Others within the service enjoy a wide variety of activities such as baking cakes, going wheelchair ice skating, playing badminton and going to lunch with their partner – could you be the third wheel this service is looking for?

As all the people we support have their own support plan, each person likes to be supported differently – so again, flexibility is key. As you'll see, one of the people we support requires support with medication, one with personal care and one with becoming more independent. All of the people we support need you to be patient, kind and respectful – three things that make up the backbone of a good relationship.

As a support worker, all you’ll need to have is a positive attitude a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability and to be reliable. If you support the people within our service, we will support you with award-winning training and induction into your new role with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

As well as knowing that what we do is making a positive difference to people’s lives, you will receive fair pay and have access to a wide range of rewards and benefits as one of our employees.
