We are now looking for a Community Navigator to act as the face of our organisation for selected communities across Cornwall. This role is offered on a full and part time basis.

Your Role 

As a Community Navigator, you will be tasked with overseeing a specified number of Coastline communities both in towns and rural locations across Cornwall. 

You will support established community groups and involvement structures, actively listening to customers to enable them to directly influence services. Additionally, you will create new channels through which our customers can engage and interact with us, identifying community strengths and supporting local residents and customers to develop sustainable community initiatives. 

Additionally, your role will involve: 

- Co-ordinating and delivering established and new back-to-work and training programmes 
- Providing information, advice and guidance on the support available 
- Analysing customer data to enable us to respond to needs and priorities more effectively 
- Acting as the point of contact for Coastline within communities 

About You 

To be considered as a Community Navigator, you will need: 

- A background in community, family, youth or social work or a related field
- A comprehensive understanding of social value 
- Experience in customer facing roles, advocacy, or consultation 
- A track record of co-design with customers, delivery of projects to targeted groups, support with employability and digital skills 
- Self-awareness and reflection 
- Social perceptiveness and diplomacy 
- The confidence to work with customer data to design initiatives which directly respond to customer need 
- A mobile and agile working style with adaptability and flexibility, to meet customer and organisational need 
- Your own transport to travel across your designated communities, to the office and to external meetings 

Knowledge of asset based community development models would be beneficial to your application. A certificate in housing, community development or similar would also be advantageous. A qualification in social sciences, mentoring, or another relevant subject would be equally desirable. 

This role would be suitable for anyone who has held the role of Community Support Worker, Family Support Worker, Community Investment Worker, Youth Worker, Community Outreach Worker, Social Worker, Youth Support Worker, Youth Outreach worker, Support Worker, Outreach Worker, Community Engagement Worker, or Community Development Worker. 

The closing date for this role is the 12th September 2019 with interviews scheduled for the 26th and 27th September 2019.
