The role

Based within our award-winning offices in Taunton, Somerset, we are seeking an Analyst to support, maintain and improve the effectiveness of our Source Data Receipt and Assessment (SDRA) system and to provide relevant technical expertise to users with regard to the use and development of tools, processes and changes within the SDRA application suite.

About UKHO

The UK Hydrographic Office is a leading centre for hydrography, providing marine geospatial data to inform maritime decisions, supporting maritime navigation, safety, security and marine development around the UK and worldwide.

SDRA is critical to keeping our world series of navigational charts up-to-date. SDRA is driven by a workflow manager application which supports the cataloguing and subsequent assessment of maritime data in our Impact Assessment and Chart compilation Teams. At its core, the application suite uses HP Content Manager, an Oracle Database and a heavily modified version of ArcGIS Desktop. The SDRA suite as a whole includes over 50 bespoke applications. The SDRA system is used to register and catalogue around 60,000 sources each year and the assessment of these sources results in over 7,000 Notices to Mariners being issued.
