Wheelchair user needs day & night assistants for personal care, domestic & practical tasks. Various shifts available, combination of day and night shifts (Chessington based)

Gentle natured, reliable and responsible, physically fit, and practical Personal Assistants needed.

I am looking to expand my team of Personal Assistants (PAs) to work a variety of night and day shifts (to be agreed) who are genuinely committed, conscientious and who I can truly rely upon to assist me when needed at home and whilst out and about.

A bit about me...
I am 46 years old, physically unable to do most things but mentally very independent and motivated. I work as a Town Planning Specialist on a range of built environment assignments. I am usually busy and need someone who can work flexibly on a variety of planned tasks, or as things crop up. Besides work, I enjoy intelligent conversation, places of interest, DIY, technology, theatre, music, cinema, travelling, cooking, and being with family and friends.

About the job.
In essence, your role would be to assist me to lead my life the way I choose, and so you would spend much of your time with me ‘being my hands’. I am clear about what I need, and how I would like you to assist me, and so I would need you to be sure that you are comfortable with providing this kind of support.

My Personal Assistants provide personal care, health/well-being support, domestic and practical support, acting as an aid (possibly a driver) in all areas of life. Many aspects of the job are essential, however tasks that you wish not to perform can be agreed at the outset.

Crucially, you will need to be entirely comfortable with providing high-level personal care in a sensitive and timely way, and importantly, be willing and able to follow directions in order to learn how particular tasks need to be carried out.

Similarly, you will need to be willing to carry out domestic jobs and provide practical assistance under my guidance.

Assisting me when I am out and/or with friends requires particular sensitivity on your part. Your ability to remain professional and mindful of my privacy, personal space and relationships is essential.

An understanding of disability issues is desirable, but above all an appreciation of politeness, mutual respect, good communication, commitment, sensitivity and a positive, 'can-do' attitude is needed.
