Are you an enthusiastic person looking for a challenging role within social care?

Our client is a local charity supporting unpaid carers across Dorset who are caring for a relative, friend or neighbour who have an illness or disability.

Position: Carer Adviser

Location: Dorset

Salary: £22,911 – £25,295 per annum (pro rata)

Hours: Either 37 or 30 hours a week including occasional weekend/evening

Benefits: 28 days’ holiday in addition to bank holidays, 5% employer contribution to pension, free annual eye tests.

About the Role:

As Carer Advisor you will be a first point of contact to carers in Dorset. Offering information, advice and guidance registering carers, in order to support carers to maintain maximum independence and wellbeing through enabling better understanding of the caring role, development of relevant skills and enabling access to support in their local community and signposting and referring carers on where necessary.

You will provide carer awareness sessions to other organisations and develop links and knowledge around support within the community

About You:

As Carer Advisor you will be have a positive attitude, confidence and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team. Other essential skills and experience include:

 

  • Experience of offering information, advice and support to people both by phone and face to face
  • Experience of speaking to groups of people
  • An understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of carers’ issues and rights
  • Multiagency working, including: whole family assessments and liaising with other agencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of IT and databases to: manage time effectively, prioritise cases, record information gathered through assessments

 

Due to the nature of this role it is essential that the successful candidate is able to work flexibility and has a full driving license, with access to a car for work purposes.

Other roles you may have experience of could include: Social Care Assessment, Care Advice, Care Advisor, Service Manager, Children and Young People, Care Manager, Social Care etc.
