Job Details

Macquarie Capital’s Infrastructure and Energy Group is hiring a Senior Business Manager in New York or London. This is an exciting opportunity to support the senior management globally by helping to manage the business as well as drive improvement initiatives across the division. You will gain exposure to the inner workings of the senior management team, with the opportunity for direct insight and input into the strategic direction of the business.

In this role you will be responsible for helping to manage the division’s performance across the global business, together with the Global Head of the Infrastructure and Energy Group, the global COO and COOs of each region. Together with our business partners, you will drive the preparation of materials for the IEG Management Committee. You will also help drive continuous improvement in the Principal Investment Committee to ensure maximum effectiveness of decision-making.

Together with the Marketing and Communications team, you will help develop content for the Infrastructure and Energy Group internal communications across various channels including Workplace, email and All Staff meetings. As well as helping to manage and improve the business, you will also be involved in helping to shape strategic initiatives and plans. These encompass deliverables like the annual strategic plan as well as ad-hoc strategic projects to improve our operating model, strengthen governance and/or deliver additional top and bottom-line results.

Ideally, you should have 6 – 9 years of investment banking, management consulting or strategy experience. You should also possess strong analytic skills including ad-hoc excel/data analytics and possess strong numeracy to interrogate financials and performance data. You should be a strong communicator – both written and verbal, while having ability to be succinct and deliver key messages effectively. You should be able to demonstrate strong planning and prioritization skills – have the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks while keeping visibility on urgency/importance and re-adjust prioritization as needed. You should be able to drive initiatives autonomously, keeping the Infrastructure and Energy Group’s COO updated as needed, be open to travel (between NYC and London in particular) and thrive in a fast-paced environment with highly commercial, talented individuals with high-bar expectations.

If you are ready for a new challenge within a global COO function, apply online today, or for more information visit www.macquarie.com/careers

Working at Macquarie

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.  In June 2014, we launched a mentoring programme for females, with the following two objectives:

  • Address female retention rates at Senior Manager level and improve our diverse pipeline of talent;
  • Engage female Senior Managers by providing tools and support around their personal development;

The programme pairs up Senior Managers with Directors, who meet on a monthly basis, and are supported by active group sessions (bi-monthly) with an external facilitator.

We select some of the brightest minds to help us in solving complex challenges for our clients.  We recognise that recruiting talent from varied backgrounds is essential to improving our understanding of the marketplace, and enhancing creativity and problem-solving capabilities in our businesses.

Because of this, our commitment to you is to create a diverse and inclusive workplace regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity or cultural background.

We make this commitment not only because it is the right thing to do but it opens up a world of opportunity, securing the future of our people, our success and our business
