As part of L&Q’s ambitious growth plans we are seeking to recruit a Community Development Lead to support the present and future needs of new communities in South Cambridgeshire.

The post will support our development in Darwin Green as well as Huntingdonshire.

The post will be home based but will require extensive travel and a significant presence on the ground, both on site and within the existing communities.  There will also be a requirement to attend occasional meetings at our Stratford office in West Ham Lane, London E15 4PH.

This challenging and exciting career opportunity is part of L&Q’s plan to widen its base of operations outside of its traditional London and South-East base. The role will play an important part in helping us to meet our commitment to deliver both new homes and deliver our social purpose that is rooted in ensuring that we deliver quality homes and social value to those communities in which we work.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering community engagement and capacity building programmes in a new development or regeneration environment.  You will possess effective relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders and with local residents, community groups and the third sector.  You will be experienced in developing socio-economic initiatives and community capacity building projects within the new development or regeneration sector.

The role will involve working closely with L&Q’s development delivery and marketing teams.  You will be responsible for managing events, meetings and producing publicity associated with these meetings.  It will be your responsibility to ensure all such materials are compliant with L&Q@ Communications and branding strategy.

You will maintain a highly visible presence within the areas in which you will operate and enhance L&Q’s local reputation through the projects and initiatives you develop and manage.  The role requires high levels of self-motivation along with effective time and project management skills.

Skills and experience

·         Proven project management skills

·         Stakeholder management experience

·         Knowledge of social and economic regeneration

·         Budgetary management skills

·         Understanding of managing impact and success of projects

·         Competent in the use of Microsoft office

·         Effective communication and influencing skills

·         Experience within the development or regeneration sector
