£10,584.50 per annum for 18 hours per week based at Guildford Adult Learning Centre, Sydenham Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 3RX.

The working hours are Monday 9am-5pm, Tuesday 9am-5pm, Wednesday, 9am-1.00pm.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.

About the role

Surrey Adult Learning provide a wide range of daytime, evening and Saturday courses and learning opportunities for adults. The provision includes leisure courses like arts and crafts and languages; qualification courses such as GCSE's in English and Maths; classes which support those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities; classes aimed at parents/carers to help them support their children and improve their own skills; and an outreach provision aimed at vulnerable groups in the community who would not normally engage in any form of learning.

Surrey Adult Learning has seven centres across North and South West Surrey and is looking to appoint a Centre Administrator for its Guildford Centre.

This role will incorporate routine as well as specific and detailed administrative functions which ensure the effective operation of the Centre. You will also be expected to provide high quality direct customer care for the users of the Centre and, in the absence of the Centre Coordinator, have responsibility for health and safety of the Centre's users and site security. Previous experience of a similar customer service role and administration would be advantageous, and you should have an interest in adult learning.

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be well organised. They will need to be a strong team player with excellent administration skills and the ability to manage their own workload, meet deadlines and prioritise as required. High standards of accuracy and attention to detail are also required.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a practical and confident approach as the role involves some lone working.
