About the job

Do you have experience of transport modelling? Are you passionate about and enjoy building relationships with stakeholders?

The Department for Transport is currently working on some of the largest infrastructure and most complex projects the country has ever seen.

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Transport Modeller into the Aviation and Maritime Analysis unit to join us at an exciting time for DfT.

This role provides a great opportunity to apply transport modelling expertise to complex, multi-modal and ground-breaking modelling challenges, providing expert advice on modelling approaches taken to support the appraisal of strategic schemes across DfT’s investment portfolio.

You will have the opportunity to use your expertise to ensure that decisions on future transport investments are supported by the best possible evidence.

The Department is committed to professional and wider development of its staff and you will be encouraged to take advantage of the great range of development opportunities available to analysts in the Department.

This is a varied role in a high profile organisation, so alongside practical experience of working with transport models, you will need to have great communication skills and the ability to understand how your work fits into the bigger picture.

Job description

Modellers in the Department for Transport are part of a wider multidisciplinary community of analysts (economists, modellers, social researchers, statisticians, operational researchers, scientists and engineers). DfT has a very strong reputation for analysis and use of evidence in policy making.

• Responding to detailed queries and requests for information from the model from a variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities
