Our client is a forward-looking College of Further & Higher Education that serves a large area of South East England with a wide range of vocational and academic courses, both full and part time. The College is situated in Ewell, close to Epsom in Surrey, and is located in the green belt near Epsom Downs and can easily be accessed either by car (junctions 8-10 on the M25) or rail (Ewell West is close and the college is next to Ewell East where you can get regular direct trains to Clapham Junction and Victoria). The College was last inspected in February 2016 retaining its overall grading of 'Good' under the robust new Ofsted standards.

Our client wants to help the learner succeed in their ambitions. Their students value the welcoming, friendly and caring atmosphere. The lively learning community helps to make the most of their learning experience at the College.

As users of the disability confident scheme, they guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.

They are currently recruiting to the following position:

Term Time Only

SEN/D Job Coach (Special Educational Needs and Disability)

One-year fixed-term contract (36 weeks per year)

32.5 hours per week

£13,199 p.a. (salary for full academic year - will be slightly less depending on start date)

The Foundation Learning Department is looking for motivated, organised and inspirational individuals to coach students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities whilst they access meaningful work experience on our Supported Internship Programme (SIP).

The role of SEN/D Job Coach is to act as a facilitator for young people with SEN/D and their host employers, proactively steering and supporting interns progress throughout the internship, in consultation with our Work Experience Lead.

Your main duties will be in the workplace, supporting individual or small groups of interns, using your initiative and discretion to develop their employability skills, preparing them for sustainable paid employment. The ability to engage, negotiate and develop strong working relationships with interns, employers, parent/carers and colleagues is integral to this role. Some of the employers are based locally, others are further afield and may involve travelling with the interns to their place of work. You will then accompany them back to the college.

Experience of supporting vulnerable young people with SEN/D is essential. A 'can-do' person, with a strong belief in the programme's ethos, you will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, understanding of business practice and an energetic, flexible approach. Willingness to work collaboratively in our Supported Internship team, balanced with the confidence and ability to manage your own time effectively when working remotely, will be the key to success.

Closing Date will be Monday 23 September 2019

Interviews will be held on Monday 30 September 2019

They are able to offer you a final salary pension scheme, generous holidays and the facilities of a College campus set in 7 acres of green belt in a peaceful setting. The College has excellent transport links and is set in a location convenient to London and the South East and offers a large free on-site car park.
