The Bourne Degree Apprenticeship in partnership with the Open University.

Bourne Leisure are delighted to open our application process for the 2nd year, for candidates to apply for our Degree Apprenticeship programme to grow future leaders. It offers talented individuals the opportunity to join the Bourne Leisure Degree Apprenticeship in a real job with a structured development programme and a built-in support network – plus, you’ll be working towards a degree at the same time. This is the opportunity of a lifetime to gain a degree, debt free, while training to become a leader in the ‘6th Best Company to Work For’ in the UK.

A lucky group of passionate, positive and hard-working people will get the chance to join us for three years in a real paid job, training to be brilliant leaders. You’ll start in a Butlin’s resort, one of our most iconic brands, and then gain experience in our other famous brands – a Haven park and Warner hotel – too. Even better, we’ll pay for you to study for a BA (Hons) in Management Practice with the Open University at the same time. 

At the end of the apprenticeship degree, you will have learned how to be the best, from the best leaders in one of the UK’s best companies to work for.

This is a very special opportunity, with only a small number of places available, so we’re looking for talented people who can meet our requirements:

  • Two A levels, a level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent

WHAT’S IN THE DEGREE COURSE?

  • BA (Hons) in Management Practice with the Open University
  • Three years’ part-time study
  • Equivalent of two days off the job to study each month
  • And Bourne Leisure will pay for it!

A personal commitment to additional study in your own time will be required.

Topic: The UK hospitality and tourism industry 

It is very important that in today’s competitive environment, (both in terms of business and employability) one has a clear understanding and some knowledge of the sector or industry in which you would be operating.

We would like you to analyse the Hospitality and Tourism industry in the United Kingdom, examining the industry’s net worth, growth and future challenges. Then create a essay/report on a word document to attach with your cover letter on the application. Please focus on the last and next five years showing the industry at its best and at its worst. 

Any resources, different data sources, industry reports, newspaper articles and websites may be referenced but will not be included as part of the 1,500-word essay requirement.

Consider:

  • How much is the hospitality industry worth?
  • How big is the UK hospitality industry?
  • What is the preferred holiday type? (Main Holiday/Short breaks)
  • Potential changes to the industry over the next 5 years
