Job Details

Bromley Healthcare is a community interest company providing a wide range of services including community nursing services such as district nursing, health visiting to specialist nurses, as well as therapy services for children, young people and adults. Being born from NHS Bromley’s community provider unit we have been providing community services to the people of Bromley for many years and we have a wealth of experience.

Bromley Healthcare is a great place to work. The unique way we deliver services and offer everyone who works here a voice, means that your career with us will be rewarding. Social Enterprises are a fairly new and exciting way to deliver healthcare, offering many of the traditional advantages of the NHS (such as excellent training and development) with the freedom for innovation by being able to reinvest any surpluses we make into the community.

Priority consideration will be given to Bromley Healthcare staff formally identified as being at risk.

HR Advisor (Band 5) Permanent, Full-time vacancy

£24,214 - £30,112 pa pro rata + HCAS £3,722 - £4,516 pa pro rata

Please be aware that any appointment towards the middle or upper end of this salary range will be subject to experience and particularly any current relevant NHS experience and banding.

The successful candidate will work as part of our small HR Business Partner & Advisory team, providing frontline HR advice and support for managers and staff. They will be expected to be able to work confidentially and autonomously within an HR advisory capacity reporting to and supporting our HR Business Partners. The role will have a particular focus on advising on the application of HR policies and procedures, and supporting managers to manage sickness absence and any employee relations matters. Co-ordinating dates and correspondence for formal HR meetings and taking notes at these meetings will also fall within the remit of this role.

In addition to all of this there will also be the opportunity for our HR Advisor to grow and develop, supporting the HR Business Partners with more complex employee relations cases and organisational change projects.

Along with current Associate CIPD Membership and ideally already holding a minimum of a Level 5 CIPD Qualification or equivalent, applicants must have proven and demonstrable previous experience of working in an HR Advisor Role managing a caseload of multiple complex employee relations cases. Your proven previous experience is essential as you must be able to “hit the ground running” upon appointment. You will also have an excellent & demonstrable knowledge of employment law and its practical application in the workplace. Please be advised that applicants who do not meet the minimum essential criteria for the post will not be considered.

The ability to keep trackers up to date, analyse HR data/metrics and translate this into meaningful information will also be key skills for the successful candidate.

This is a varied role where the successful candidate will need to be able to multi- task, have excellent planning & time management skills, be a team player and be prepared to move seamlessly from one task to another, in what is a busy office environment.

The role is based in our new offices at Central Court in Orpington (Kent); however, the post holder must be willing and able to travel on a regular (weekly) basis to other Bromley Healthcare sites across the Bromley, Greenwich and Bexley localities. A full driving license and access to your own transport for business use is therefore desirable.

If your answer to any of the below questions is NO then please refrain from applying as you will NOT be shortlisted if your application does not include evidence of the below.

  1. Do you currently hold a minimum of Associate membership of the CIPD?
  2. Do you have proven and demonstrable previous experience of working in an HR Advisor Role dealing with multiple complex Employee Relations cases?
  3. Are you willing and able to travel on a regular (weekly) basis to other Bromley Healthcare sites across the Bromley, Greenwich and Bexley localities?

Please note, any applications from previous candidates for HR Advisor positions with Bromley Healthcare in the past 12 months will not be considered.

Initial first round telephone interviews with shortlisted candidates will take place on Friday 4th October and Monday 7th October, with second round face to face interviews expected to take place on Tuesday 15th October 2019.

Bromley Healthcare CIC is an NHS community provider and part of the NHS family.

But we are a little different; we like to think that we stand out from typical NHS organisations as Bromley Healthcare CIC is actually a co-owned social enterprise, co-owned by its employees. This means that our staff remain on NHS Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions and are members of the NHS pension scheme (providing you are eligible), if not we can offer the Nest or Scottish Widows pension schemes.

What difference does this make?

Because our Nurses, therapists and support staff co-own Bromley Healthcare CIC and have a real say in how our services are run, this has created a greater sense of ownership, responsibility & motivation among our staff which in turn creates better quality for our patients & families.

If you are keen to work for a dynamic, forward thinking but different type of NHS employer then Bromley Healthcare could be for you!

From health visiting to district nursing, school nurses to specialist nurses, our nursing services help new parents to care for new born children and older people to continue living at home through care and support. We also have a wide range of therapy services for adults and children, including speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy whilst our specialist services focus on preventing diseases and supporting those living with specific conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) or diabetes.
