We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Manager with experience of working in social policy, based in either London, Birmingham or Leeds. Working for Ecorys is an opportunity to work with dedicated people on meaningful policies that have an impact on people’s lives around the world.  We’re a socially responsible, employee-owned organisation that gives 1% of our profits to charity each year.  Our working culture promotes personal and career development and you’ll be part of the global Ecorys group with offices worldwide.  About the role The Senior Research Manager will join our well-established and reputable Policy and Research team which is currently overseeing a number of high profile policy and programme evaluations for UK Government, large funders, third sector and local authority clients.  You will be involved with managing and delivering evaluation and research projects in a range of social policy fields.  Key policy areas where our work is growing include education, health and wellbeing, and international monitoring and evaluation. You will have the autonomy to manage medium sized projects, controlling budgets and timescales and oversee parts of larger projects and evaluations. You will use a variety of primary, secondary, qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect data as well as statistical analyses and econometric methodologies.  Then, concluding projects with the production of high quality written reports, presentations, articles and other communications tools.  In addition to research activities, you will lead proposals and tenders for existing and new clients and actively drive forward business development opportunities. Due to the nature of research, this role will require a DBS check as well as some UK travel and occasional international travel. The ideal person You will have in-depth knowledge of public policy clients and markets, especially in social policy, education or health fields. Candidates with experience of having won and delivered work for the UK Government Departments, large charities, lottery funders and NGO’s would be of interest. Candidates with a broader social policy background looking to develop their portfolio will also be of interest. Additionally, you will have expertise in designing and implementing research, utilising numerous qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as being able to design and implement a range of monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches (including impact evaluation and quasi experimental approaches).  You will have a good quality first degree and ideally Masters degree in social science, economics, research methods or related subjects.  In addition to strong technical skills, you will need to be equally enthusiastic about business development with a proven track record in writing winning proposals, pitching and winning new business.  You will be confident with building and maintaining relationships with clients and our large multidisciplinary and multicultural research teams. An excellent level of written English and strong presentation and communication skills are essential.  Benefits There is a salary from £35,000 to £46,000 per annum (additional London supplement), depending on experience.  We offer a great benefit package of 25 days holiday per year, a performance-related bonus, a contributory company pension, private healthcare, flexible working hours and more.
