Vetting Supervisor Hindlip, Worcestershire  Fixed Term until 31st March 2020 Full Time The closing date for this post is 12 noon on Friday 4th October 2019 Those currently eligible on the redeployment register will be given prior consideration. Interviews will be held W/C 21st October 2019 The main purpose of the role is to supervise the Vetting Team, ensuring all vetting decisions are made in line with the vetting code of practice and Approved Professional Practice and to ensure that the vetting of all officers, staff and contractors who work with Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police is properly completed to the appropriate level, to ensure the risk to the organisations is reduced. Main Responsibilities: To support the Vetting Development Manager to ensure that the internal force vetting requirements are in line with the Vetting Code of Practice and Approved Professional Practice (APP), applying all relevant statutory and policy requirements. To ensure that effective quality control and audit procedures are in place in order to maintain a high and consistent standard of security vetting within the organisation. To assist in the development and management of the Police National Contractors Vetting Scheme including invoicing and meeting new companies.   To ensure that all information collected and decisions made for the purpose of security vetting are appropriately recorded and stored in line with statutory and policy requirements and securely retained for audit and transparency.  To supervise a vetting regime which is proportionate and effective in assessing and addressing any identified potential threat and risk presented by individuals who may cause harm to the force, ensuing service level agreements are met. Where appropriate, support the Vetting Development Manager to develop and implement risk management strategies to minimise identified risks. To make evidence based threat, risk and harm management decisions on vetting applications, on the delegated authority of the Chief Constable, in accordance with the National Decision Model, ensuring that appropriate standards are applied and that decisions are proportionate and auditable at all times. This is to include review and, where appropriate, withdrawal of clearance. To secure and manage confidential and sensitive personal information obtained for vetting purposes. To develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with other forces and external agencies in order to ensure best practice in vetting. To conduct and manage investigations in relation to vetting issues and report on such in an appropriate manner. To represent the force at regional and national meetings in respect of vetting, where required.  To ensure that security vetting review and aftercare requirements are effectively managed and undertaken. To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required. Experience/Skills:   Educated to A Level (Level 3) or equivalent.  Working knowledge of vetting processes and relevant legislation (e.g. Data Protection Act, Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, National Vetting Code of Practice and Home Office Guidance in relation to vetting). Experience of supervising people within a customer focused team.  Experience of assessing and managing risk. Experience of researching, investigative interviewing, validating, and corroborating complex information, to make decisions and act on own judgement. Experience of presenting accurate, comprehensive documentation demonstrating thorough attention to detail. Experience of managing high workloads and working to strict deadlines. Ability to analyse, assimilate and record complex information interpret and apply legislation/ policy and make informed recommendations and decisions. Ability to develop and maintain working relationships both internal and external to the organisation.  Negotiating and influencing skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent IT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook). Special Conditions: Flexi-time Scheme applicable to the role. Regular travel throughout the Warwickshire and West Mercia Policing areas. Casual Car User. **Candidates will be required to undertake an intensive period of 6-8 weeks training with daily attendance at Stratford-upon-Avon.
