Becoming a Project Manager with Smart Data Communications Company (DCC):

DCC has complex reporting and delivery models, therefore stakeholder management, effective communication/collaborative working skills and keen price-control are key to successful project management via recognised methodologies. You will join the Portfolio Management Services permanent practice of PPM professionals and immediately assigned/seconded to deliver a particular project under one of DCC's programmes of activity. Functional matrix management will remain within Portfolio Management Services, with day to day activity managed via programme leadership.

What you'll be doing:

  • Establishing the outline business case for carrying out the work; putting in place the project management team to deliver the work; and defining the right approach for meeting the projects target outcomes.
  • Delivery - assigning, monitoring and delivering work packages required to achieve the projects outcomes; regular progress reporting at project, programme and DCC governance forums;
  • Correct actions where necessary to ensure delivery remains within tolerances; and confirmation of continued business justification and acceptance of risks.
  • Prepare project for formal closure; handing over the project's products to the business as usual; and evaluating the project's performance, recording lessons learnt, and disseminating learnings back in to the project and programme delivery community

What we're looking for:

  • Stakeholder and communications management: The ability to manage stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
  • The ability to identify and monitor risks (threats and opportunities), to plan and implement responses to those risks, and respond to other issues that affect the change initiative.
  • The ability to identify and/or develop frameworks and methodologies that will ensure management of change initiatives will be comprehensive and consistent across different initiatives.
  • The ability to prepare, gain approval of, refine and update business cases that justify the initiation and/or continuation of change initiatives in terms of benefits, costs and risks.
  • The ability to prepare and maintain definitions of the requirements of change initiatives.
