We have an opportunity available for you to join us as a Chef based in Saxmundham. You will join us on a part time basis working 35 hours per week, 37 weeks per year. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £13,779 per annum.
SET Saxmundham School is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Chef. The school is an 11 - 16 non-selective, inclusive secondary school and a member of the trust, which also includes Beccles and Ixworth Free Schools.

We have therefore invested in a high-quality catering service that offers healthy, good value meals. About the role:
As our Chef you will consistently prepare, cook and present food to school standards, under the direction of the Chef Manager. You will also deputise for Chef Manager in their absence.
Working hours: 35 hpw, typically between 8am - 3.30pm, Monday - Friday, 37 weeks per year.
Key responsibilities of our Chef:
- Assist in the preparation of food production
- Ensure that food is prepared in accordance with Trust’s hygiene procedures, e.g. temperatures are recorded, samples are taken, foodstuffs are stored safely and hygienically and a food production plan is completed
- Ensure that dishes are produced and costed to required standards of quality and presentation for service
- Ensure that work area is maintained in a clean and hygienic state at all times
- Adhere to the Trust’s Hygiene, Health and Safety policies
- Assis with stock control
- As and when required by the Chef Manager, carries out additional tasks concerned with the operation of the kitchen
Experience required to become our Chef:
- At least 1-2 years experience of producing innovative, high quality menus
- Relevant catering qualification
- Experience of assisting with the management of compliance to the Food Safety and Hygiene regulations
- Well developed organisational and planning skills
- Ability to motivate staff working within a multi-site environment
- Experience of budgetary control
- Good level of verbal and written skills
