Role Overview

Transport for Wales has awarded KeolisAmey (Joint Venture) a multi-billion-pound contract to manage the Wales & Borders Franchise and to deliver the £738m Core Valley Line Infrastructure Transformation rail programme. This is the biggest ever contract to be awarded in Wales and we will work closely with Transport for Wales to deliver a new era for passengers and for Wales, with more services, newer trains, better stations and a more reliable network.

Due to this recent award, we are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to support this project's fourteen-and-a-half-year Infrastructure and Asset Maintenance programme. The asset maintenance programme has an estimated annual budget of £16m.

As the Senior Commercial Manager, you will form part of the Maintenance and Asset Management team on this prestigious contract. This branch of the contract is concerned with the delivery of planned and preventative maintenance as well as Renewals works and additional TfW and Franchise requirements over the term. You will be responsible for leading the Commercial and Contractual Management and administration of the Supply Chain Partners (including Procurement) in delivering the maintenance works required. You will have responsibility for the accurate Financial forecasting and reporting of this element of the project and developing the team to achieve success. You will integrate your commercial acumen with the Operational delivery team led by the Maintenance Director.



What are we looking for?

To be successful in this appointment, you must have significant experience in commercial management, ideally within the rail sector (on major projects). Experience of managing Infrastructure and Asset Maintenance would be extremely advantageous. You should be experienced and well versed in establishing and developing relationships with clients and the supply chain alike as well as an ability to drive best value and innovative solutions. Experience of mobilising supply chain partners is essential. As part of the Commercial team, it is expected that your strong, interpersonal skills allow you to quickly develop positive links with not only the Principal Commercial Manager and the commercial team but also with the whole operational delivery team and Transport for Wales. As we are operating as a partner with Transport for Wales, you will need to demonstrate the ability to operate in a collaborative environment.
