William Lyon Court is a supported housing project that works with 16-25 year olds who are homeless with associated problems, e.g. emotional or welfare needs. Our unique 13 bed service helps individuals feel safe and stable. A project worker like you can help the young people referred to us find their voice in the community; eventually helping them to achieve a sense of well-being.

You’ll make your ripple in society every day within this role, knowing you’ve made a difference in someone’s life. Whether you’re helping a tenant with their housing benefit application or sign-posting them to an agency to help with on-going needs such as health, substance misuse, education employment and training.

In addition to the above, you will support them to feel valued and to avoid ASB issues within the scheme and ensure health and safety regulations and practices are monitored.

As we all know record keeping is key so you will be expected to use your functional IT skills to update tenancy records and support plans.

You will use your initiative and persuasion skills to encourage help the tenants integrate into society and eventually be ready to move on. This means you’ll frequently be liaising with other choice based letting schemes or landlords to ensure realistic move-on option for tenants. The wealth of knowledge you have of housing and homelessness will shine here!

Before this happens though you will ensure tenants follow their tenancy agreement, report maintenance issues. You’ll also help the scheme manager to manage arrears and repayment plans by assisting the manager to consult with tenants. Your diplomacy skills from your customer service experience will assist you greatly in this.
