Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) is one of the largest locally based housing organisations in the East Midlands. Across the region we manage over 9,000 homes; house more than 15,000 tenants; provide over 1,500 bed spaces for people with support/care needs, in over 250 properties; and provide more than 500,000 hours of care and support each year.

Umuada is one of our domestic abuse refuges for women and children who are no longer able to remain safely in their home. We have an opportunity for a part time Support Worker to join Umuada, to help survivors of domestic abuse to live a life free from fear.

On a practical level we need Support Workers who have a working knowledge of the benefit system, and can provide support with benefits, regarding housing and resettlement. You will also provide support for our survivors’ to help them access work, volunteering and educational opportunities, to enable them to pursue independent lives. In reality, the role is so much more – offering a friendly, compassionate face, a cup of tea and the time, patience and understanding to empower our survivors to realise their potential and move on to a life free from risk of further abuse. You may be required to support in the community and attend appointments including court appointments.

This is a part time role for 24 hours per week, based in Nottingham. The hours will be worked across Monday-Saturday 9am to 6pm, but flexibility is required as this may be subject to change in the future.
